Originally called the Cosmograph when it first came out in the 60s, the Rolex Daytona is the sportiest of the Rolex watches. There are two types of Rolex Daytona watches, the first of which was produced in much smaller quantities from the 60s to the 80s and which all have a four digit model or reference number. Though iconic, this series was in short supply by the 90s leading to the second series to be manufactured to meet the rising demand. The second series has a Zenith modified movement, and was produced from 1988 to the year 2000. The current series goes along with the second one and is only different because of the in-house movement rather than the modified Zenith.
Daytonas were not in huge demand when first produced, but gained popularity over the years as their accuracy increased, and with stars like Paul Newman wearing them. Named after Daytona speedway in 1970, the Daytona has been the watch for motor racers since its inception, as well as a popular model among movie stars and the Hollywood elite. With technology that allows the wearer to use the stop watch function, calculate elapsed times, and average speeds, plot courses, and measure speeds up to 400 mph with its three sub-dials and tachometer scale on the bezel, this timepiece comes with all the machinery necessary for a professional racer out on the course. This edgy yet fashionable model is the perfect accessory for the avid race car driver, or anyone else who wants to add a little flair to their lives.
Perhaps the most rare Daytonas are dubbed “Paul Newman” Daytona watches and all come from the first series. They have the distinction of having acrylic domed crystals, block markers instead of lines on the dial, cross-hairs across each sub-dial meeting in the middle, a slightly different minutes sub-dial and sometimes do not have the word ‘Daytona’ on the face. Paul Newman supposedly wore such a watch for many years up until his death. Now Daytona watches are seen on a range of famous wrists from business leader Stephan Winkelman, to TV news personality Matt Lauer, to political figure Nicolas Sarkozy, to actors and musicians like John Mayor, Matt Damon, and Rob Lowe.
The Rolex Daytona replica line has many different models which are made of different materials like 18 carat gold, Everose gold, and stainless steel. They sport different dial colors and materials from bright red and yellow to black to white mother-of-pearl, although they all have the same three chronograph sub-dials placed around the center. Made to extremely high standards with premium materials and outfitted with high grade Swiss made 7750 valjoux automatic movements, replica Rolex Daytona watches provide a truly authentic Rolex experience. Designed for both men and women, the Daytona replica watch will make you feel like a pro, ready to start the big race.
