History

As one of the newer luxury watch brands to take the world by storm, Hublot Watches was founded in 1980 by Carlo Crocco. After breaking away from the Binda Group, Crocco set about designing a watch he called the Hublot after the French word for ‘Porthole’. Three years of research and design led to both a new watch, and a strap made of a natural black rubber substance, the first of its kind, that has become one of the more recognizable attributes of Hublot watches.

Though there was not one buyer when the watch premiered at the Basel Watch Fair in 1980, the watch design quickly caught on after that netting over two million in the first year. In 2005, under the leadership of new CEO Jean-Claud Biver, Hublot came out with the Big Bang Chronograph which was an immediate success and the winner of multiple awards from the ‘2005 Design Prize’ from the Geneva Watch Making Grand Prix, to the ‘Sports Watch Prize’ at the Watch Of The Year ceremony in Japan.

Known for their sporty, and generally masculine timepieces, the Hublot collection includes the King Power, the Aero Bang, and even a line of ladies colorful, and often diamond studded Big Bang Tutti Frutti watches.

Sponsorship And Ambassadors

Since 2008, Hublot has been a sponsor for British soccer team Manchester United, who represent them internationally as well.
